Commonly reported issues include jerking and harshness, loud grinding from the engine bay, and difficulty changing from one gear to another. You also may experience slipping of the gears, or rough idling. If the transmission needs to be replaced, it will cost between $1480 and $2490 on average for parts alone. If You choose to have it done professionally, You will need to pay an additional $500 to $958 for labor.

If the 2016 subaru forester is having issues with the transmission then you will notice several problems, including shaking or grinding while driving, a burning smell when the vehicle is on, the gears slipping when you shift, the shifter becoming stuck or non responsive, and leaking fluids. This can all lead to a transmission failure which will more or less kill the vehicle.
