The 2017 GMC sierrA6 speed transmission problems are fluid leaks or noisy transmission. The transmission is one of the most important parts of the vehicle. You will come into problems at some point. You may experience shudders. Hard shifts could come up and that is not good. There might be jerking. The gears may become stuck. The transmission may slip. If the transmission fluid leaks, that needs to be solved quickly. Delayed shifts can cause acceleration issues. The transmission fluid needs to be replaced every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. Along with fluid changes, terrible sounds will come from the transmission. Old transmission fluid will be awful to the ear. A worn out torque converter will cause a headache.
My answer is if you have a 6 speed tranny in a 2015 to 2018 gmc get rid of it. They are junk. Mine has been rebuilt twice in less than8250 miles. The torque converters are junk. Made to thin. They get hot and glaze up then contaminate the tranny. Go buy a dodge. Gm automobiles s**k. Will never buy another one.

Have 2017 Gmc 1500 pickup transmission problem went to Gmc Dealership they drained fluid 3 times w/a additive call for /question I have is should I notice difference right off or should it take time or miles to see a different in w/ problem ? Problem being surging at speeds of 50 to 75 like looking to find your speed your going

Have a 2017 GMC Sierra with 6 speed, 21,000 one owner miles. Jerking and shuttering was terrible, changed filter and used Mobil 1 blue label synthetic. It did help but just don’t trust it. In the transmission shop, probably an upgrade to a billet converter, shift kit, and thermostat kit. If this doesn’t work, the junk is getting traded. I’ve been a Chevy truck person my whole life, but I would not recommend one or buy another one. Price is high but the quality is cheap.
Same problems with the Transmission jerking and banging and stuttering. I just had my trans rebuilt. Still having some of the same issues not as bad but it is new again. I’m sure I’ll be rebuilding this one in a year or 2 again
