If the 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 is having an issue with the gearbox, otherwise called the transmission, then any of these symptoms may be present. You may notice that the gears slip or slam when they are shifting and that they tend to shift late or early. Basically when You would expect them to they won't, and when they do it won't sound right. There can also be a grinding sound coming from the hood of the car, which is the sound of the gears rubbing on each other. If You leave the car parked for a period of time You might find a puddle of transmission fluid under it, due to a line leak. Finally, the car simply may not drive at all as the transmission has seized up and ruined the car.

Some common 2018 dodge ram 2500 transmission problems are related to incorrect gear ratios, transmission fluid sensor failures, and shift solenoid failures.

Error message said “torque converter out of spec” at 70,000 miles. 10,000 miles past warranty...go figure. Dealership checked it... No problem. Flushed the transmission after still getting service icons all the way through 108,000 miles, when the transmission shifted weirdly, got loud, and limped into the dealership where they told me the torque converter came apart and took out the transmission.

This truck is horrible. Chrysler needs to do a recall on all 2018 transmissions 2500 6.4l hemi motor. The cost to repair is outrageous and of course all the issues start after the warranty is expired

I bought my 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 brand new in 2018 500 miles on it. It has many things wrong with it from day one but in 2021 withjust over 40,000 miles the transmission started making loud noises. Took it to the dealer. They had it three days and gave it back, they couldnt find anything wrong. Second time, still nothing. The Dodge dealership would not find anything wrong with it until the truck would no longer go in reverse at all! My warranty was still active, begrudgingly, they said they would have to replace the transmission under warranty. I get a call weeks later stating there was sand in my transmission! Mind you I have an off road package so yes, I go off road twice a year, that is it. Now they want to blame the transmission on me driving on a beach twice a year! They have the truck over two months because they can’t get parts! And they do not provide a loaner because during Covid they sold them all! This is my only car people! Now I have to walk??? So no, I will never buy another Dodge Ram ever! I have a $65k piece of s**t! 2023 the “new” transmission has $9k miles on it and it is slipping just like the original!!!! Dealer can’t get in he shop for three weeks! Again, without a vehicle! Still making payments though…

My 2018 2500 Tradesman with a 6.4 Hemi Is now in the garage for a new transmission. It started with hard shifting and the. Unable to shift on reverse. Engine light came on and the rest is $7,900 history. Very disappointed in this vehicle. In fact it has been the most expensive and unreliable vehicle I’ve ever had. Now I’m stuck with a lemon.

I have a 2018 I bought new. Sept 13, 21 took it in because the transmission went out. Had to wait 4 weeks for Chrysler to decide how they wanted to handle it. It still under warranty. Got it back at 6 weeks. Picked it up Friday evening and took it back Saturday morning with no Reverse. They had it for another 5 weeks. Rebuilt the transmission 5 more times. Finally got it back after Thanksgiving. Missed deer season since I did not have a truck. Kept telling them there was still a problem. Got told after they inspected it and test drove it that it was ok. 3 weeks ago went back in and took a service writer out. Showed him the problem. Told me they would have me a rental the next day. Pulled out and went right back in. The transmission light came on and it would not go out of 2nd gear. Told me this time they are going to put in a new one but have no idea when. I travel and fish tournament. I wont even get into how much they have cost me. And now the new season is starting and they have my truck again with no relief in site. Ford or GMC is starting to look really good.
