The Chevy Trax turbo problems are faulty radiator and faulty oxygen sensor. You will come across many issues with an engine. A spark plug may pop off, causing engine trouble. A gasket may be loose and that needs to be tightened up quickly. You can have oil leaks and those need to be fixed as soon as possible. A serious problem is the engine overheating. This may lead to fires and the vehicle exploding. There could be excessive oil use, requiring the oil to be changed sooner than expected. The coolant needs to be changed every 60,000 miles. Your air filter needs to be changed every 15,000 to 30,000 miles. The spark plugs need to be replaced every 100,000 miles unless it's a copper one. A cooper spark plug needs to be replaced every 30,000 miles.

I financed 2014 Chevy Trax Lt with turbo three years ago. I have 2.5yrs left on it. I just noticed that my check engine light was on and I took it in for a transmission service today and the gentleman told me that the P0299 error code came up showing as a turbo underboost . What could be the cause of this?

The top complaints associated with ownership of the Chevy Trax Turbo include inadequate braking and rolling backward on inclines as well as exhaust fumes entering the vehicle.

2018 Trax turbo has gone bad 3 times since I bought the car. Each time dealer has different reason but all from turbo problems. Never buy a GM turbo vehicle as it will fail and cause more problems when it does.

This week is the 2nd time my 2015 trax is at the dealership for turbo failure issues. I ran the code P0299 on my scanner this morning hoping it was just a bad low pressure sensor connected to it. Sadly within 5 months of owning the car this is the 2nd time I’ve had to take it in; and now have it replaced. Hopefully it’ll last me the remaining duration of my financing on the car.

2015 Chevy Trax turbo problems for the 2nd time since owning the car in 4 months now. P0299 code both times. I’ve noticed many complaints about this issue. Recall should be made this is insane! Receiving another turbo to be replaced. I’m sure it won’t last long either. Mark my words!

I bought my 2016 Chevy Trax at the dealership in 2020. It's been in shop numerous times. I've replaced the flex pipe, radiator, water pump, cam shaft seals, serpentine belt, valve cover seal. It's showing a check engine light again. Every time I take it to the dealership I get get another problem to fix but they won't look at the turbo. I've even changed the spark plugs and coil pack. It only has 89,900 miles. I know that's part of the problem. I have hesitation and poor gas mileage, delayed take off

2017. Turbo failed and replaced at 108,000. One year and 16 days later (today), at 129,000, turbo failed again. Of course I only had a 1 year warranty on it.

I have a 2020 Chevy Trax and had a check engine light on happens to be 12/30/23 night of and 12/31/23 AM when I found out it was for the turbo engine underboost. I talked with the dealer and he said it’s not recommended to drive my car around far distances until it gets fixed. Which messed up my NYE plans and now I have to wait until Tuesday to get my car fixed.

I am now at 40k I have had my 2019 trax in the shop for a turbo failure 4 times and have had the engine rebuil. The solution seems to be buying a Toyota and not looking back.

I have a 2018 trax, check engine light came on while highway driving, followed by loss of power trying to accelerate up an incline. Made it home, went to take to garage the next day but check engine light was now off so nothing they could really do. Was fine for about a week and then check engine light came on again followed by another loss of power. I bought a code reader immediately and got P0299. The dealership said it would be a month before they could look at it, so a local garage had a look and advised they've seen this same issue in other Traxs and Cruze 1.4L turbo engines, and long story short the entire turbo charger has to be replaced. I was further advised after this repair is done, it's not uncommon for the turbo to fail again or even worse entire engine failure. Getting the turbo repaired, quoted $2000 CAD. After this repair is complete I will be looking to trade in on a new vehicle, and definitely not a GM with a turbo! Garbage engines!!

My 2015 Trax turbo failed at 43,000 miles. I was out of state and luckily found a dealer who replaced it within two days. GM and the BBB are STILL arguing about this being a known issue and reimbursing me for out-of-pocket costs. Good luck!
