When the engine oil pump on the Chrysler 300 fails, the fuel pressure sensor sends a signal to the machine, indicating low oil pressure. This causes the engine computer to illuminate the engine control light and store on-board diagnostic (obd) trouble codes that represent the oil pressure readings in the sensor. But how do You know if Your oil pump is about to fail. Thankfully there are many symptoms to look for when the oil pump goes bad. Some of the common symptoms are: noise from the valve train, strange noises from the hydraulic lifters, reduced oil pressure, a hotter engine, and a noisy oil pump. Usually, the oil pump doesn't get servicing until it actually starts to fail.

In addition, the engine can be put in a reduced power mode to protect the engine, but in most cases the engine will stall and fail to restart.
