2017 Hyundai Elantra's owners complain their driver's and rear door locks suddenly start to malfunction or not work. Commonly the key fob and outside handle will not release or lock the vehicle. The rear hatch latch is also known to fail. Some owners have reported the locks working while inside the vehicle, using the frame's automatic buttons, but all detail a lack of locking power from outside the car. In most instances this is caused by a faulty door lock actuator. Hyundai is associated with compromised actuators that need replacing. In other instances, the latch assembly, from within the panel or rear hatch, requires repair. The average cost to replace a door lock actuator on a Hyundai Elantra averages $200-$230 in parts and labor.

Driver door - door does not open from outside of vehicle. Latch is in unlocked position. Locking and unlocking door with key fob, actual key in door, or latch does not unlock door. Driver side back door does nor open from inside or outside. Again, latch is in the unlock position.

This is ridiculous. I cannot use my driver's rear door at all. It won't open from the outside or inside even when the car is unlocked and the door itself is unlocked!

I'm not sure how it works guys but we should file a class action for this, we should not have to pay to fix this. I already had problems with and replaced my driver's door lock actuator and now my rear passenger side actuator has failed completely and will not open from the inside or outside. This is a huge safety concern because if there was an accident and that was the only accessable door on the vehicle we would be trapped.

It is absolutely ridiculous and a safety hazard. I can not believe this has not been recalled by now. We’re having the same problems with ours, our back driver door won’t open from the inside or the outside and the front passenger side only decides to when it wants to.

Door lock problems that have been reported about the hyundai elantra 2017 are because of a door lock actuator that needs to be replaced.

At least for some 2017 Elantras (and I think all Tucsons), Hyundai has extended the warranty to 10 years and unlimited miles on the actuators.

I like my car but for this reason ALONE - I will not get another Elantra. It took YEARS for them to issue a recall on the front kicks last year and now the back locks go out. My sister’s response was ‘there is a reason our first Hyundai was our last Hyundai’

This is a serious problem. It started where I had to pull three times on my drivers door handle for the door to open. Meanwhile I could not open the driver's side back door at all. Then suddenly, I can no longer open my back passenger door from the outside or the inside. Basically I can't access the whole back seat and I am worried that before long I won't be able to get in or out of the car at all. I am waiting for an appointment and in the meantime, I am worried that my car will be a death trap if suddenly I can't open up the doors at all. Even when the doors are in an unlocked position, the back doors won't open from the inside. It's terrible.

This appears to be a widespread problem. When are Hyundai going to do a recall i wonder.
My 2017 Hyundai doors will not open with the key fob.. On the passenger side I have to go in car & reach over to unlock the door...If there are these many issue, I should not have to pay the $200 & something dollars. I need to get the door operation, ASAP. I'm paying for a car that's not operating properly.

My doors front driver side snd back passenger doors do not open…
Are you kidding me that should be a recall matter. This should be fixed At no charge. I hadn't had my car a month Before my passager front door started Doing this. And the macanic told me I was lying he said he didn't see any Thing wrong with it. This was in Lebanon Hyundai dealer ship. I will never by another Car from there.
I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra. Starting to have issues with my front driver side door. It won't open from the outside when you first unlock with the key fob. You have to unlock and lock a few times before it opens.

2017 Hyundai Elantra Passenger door only opens from the inside. Now rear drivers door won't open at all. Inside or outside. I feel super panicked driving knowing my doors could fail and I could get stuck inside or outside from doors not working.

2017 elantra just got used. Fob doesn't half work to unlock doors. Have to push it a number of times to work. Also my back passenger door won't open or unlock from the fob or inside manual lock. This is a safety issue if you ask me. How do you get out in an emergency?

Already replaced passenger side lock at Dealer prices. Now passenger rear door will not open. Same problem but I’m not paying Hyundai to have it fixed. Apparently their quality and customer support has deteriorated. I’m in the market for a new automobile. It will not be a Hyundai.

I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra I'm 61 this was my very first new car. My passenger front door will not open from the outside. When it first started doing that I said something to the macanic when he took it back to service my car when he brought my car back he said it worked fine for him. I know people have perspiration but this was 1st thing in the morning I was his first oil change he drove my car back around and it smelled so bad of body odor .I had to roll all the windows down to try to get that smell out. After that the new car smell was gone. I can't believe
