Some of the Hyundai Kona transmission problems are delayed shifts and stuck in gear. The transmission fluid needs to be replaced every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. Along with fluid changes, terrible sounds will come from the transmission. Old transmission fluid will be awful to the ear. A worn out torque converter will cause a headache. The transmission is one of the most critical parts of the vehicle. You will face issues at some point. Hard shifts could arise and that is not good. You could experience shudders. There may be jerking. The gears might become stuck. The transmission could slip. Delayed shifts will cause acceleration problems. If the transmission fluid leaks, that needs to be patched quickly.

I have a 2020 Kona that’s having the issues with delayed shifts. I personally have had it less than a month. Been to service with Hyundai twice already. I’m definitely not happy!!

Same thing happened to me yesterday highway driving 62 mph an indicator light came on and off (I don’t know which one it was to quick) then a loud bang underneath and then it down shifted and stayed stuck there. I drove it right to the dealership they kept it for 5 hours and then said they could not duplicate that response.

We are getting our 3rd transmission next month at only 15 k. Warranty coming in handy.

I have a 2020 Kona and twice in the past ten days the blind spot/front impact lights come on and then I hear & feel a loud BANG come from uderneath the front. This happened on the highway @+60mph, and now I see the 'manual' shift mode doesn't work stuck on '4', and in D shifts seem sluggish and won't shift to higher gear.

Hyundai kona transmission problems are usually related to rough shifts between gears, and delayed acceleration.

I have a 2020 Hyundai Kona AWD. The transmission makes a horriblegrinding sound, like something is slipping when decelerating to about 5 mph, then taking off again. I have it captured twice on video but the dealership won't do anything until they cash replicate it, which is ridiculous, given the videos.

My 2019 Kona had the same issue: driving at high speed, huge bang (which is terrifying) , had to pull over and turn it off to be able to drive again. I got the same runaround. If they couldn't replicate the issue, they couldn't fix it. Even though I couldn't really afford it, I ended up trading it in after driving on pins and needles for 1.5 years. I reported the problem to the NTSD and encourage others to do the same.

I have a 2020 Kona and I mean told by the dealership that I have to replace the transmission as there's a noise in the front end to the tune of $9,000 it's 20,000 kilometers over warranty and they don't seem to want to stand by their product
