The Porsche Macan has become somewhat infamous for issues with the transfer box, though it's not necessarily on all years. Many owners have felt vibrations or acceleration that's stuttered when starting from a flat surface or at speeds of 25-35 mph. It sort of feels like You're going over a lot of small speed bumps, and is initially somewhat understated, so You're not quite sure that You've felt it, but then progressively gets worse. The reason this problem exists seems to be because of how Porsche mated the four-wheel drive system within the transfer case and is such a regularly reported complain that they've extended the warranty period coverage of the transfer case, though no recalls have been issued. If You experience this problem, You're going to want to take it into the shop before it gets much worse.

The porsche macan transfer box has had reported problems which were clicking issues and hard shifting that are linked to transfer box failure.

I have a 2015 Macan S which had the transfer case replaced at 19k miles March 2019. Now in August 2021 at 27K miles the transfer case needs to be replaced once again. Porsche extended the warranty 7 so I was reimburse $3000 for the first replacement. The 2nd replacement is 6 weeks beyond the Porsche extension period of 7 years.

I work in the Trade. I'm looking to buy a customer's part-ex (2015 Porsche Macan S). I would like to know, mainly for my own curiosity as I own a 2017 Diesel S model myself (Fully serviced from Porsche in December). The car has recently been serviced with an independent "Specialist" service centre in our home town - indicating from the service record - where stamped in the book - only ticked for Engine Oil, is it likely that an indepent service centre would have carried out diagnostics, or a health check at the very least?! What would predict abnormal behavior, or in-fact, what is the general duration of a working transfer box - whether that be distance or time?
