As the driver of a 2000 Honda CR-V, You may have discovered issues with shifting from one gear to another. This is a common complaint for this year and model, as well as many others. The TSB, also known as the Honda Technical Services Bulletin, lists multiple reports of shifters getting stuck when trying to alternate from second shift into fifth. Some have also experienced harsh shifting when moving from third to fifth gears. Thankfully, the culprit of these problems was usually a lack of transmission fluid. This vehicle uses up to 1.7 quarts of Dexron IIiAutomatic transmission fluid, or ATF 4. You can expect to pay between $4 and $35 for one-quart bottles of the fluid from most major retailers, or automotive locations.
