A common electrical problem with the 2003 Chevy Silverado replicates a bad battery and alternator. Owners find their accessories quit functioning, including automatic key locks, the radio, dash lights, gauges and the drivers information center. The truck is also known to suffer blower motor failure over time and the the CD player may quit accepting compact discs. Backlighting in the dash is adjustable but the wiring can short and cause a "blacked out" dashboard. When switched on the speedometer may give out as well as the oil pressure gauge, oil temperature and other indicators. Almost all issues are introduced through faulty wiring that degrades as the truck ages. These errors can also be caused by a faulty electrical control module located behind and in the center of the Silverado's dash.

Electrical problems associated with the 2003 chevy silverado are due to electrical short draining battery, intermittent starting issues, engine not turning over, fire caused by wiring harness, dash board gauges not working, and a short draining the battery.
