Consumers who drive the 2004 Chevy Silverado have indicated that there are ignition switch problems that are quite common with the on early 2000's model truck. Some of the symptoms that drivers have reported are flickering of warning lights, stalling when idle, and no start when turning the ignition. The first thing You will notice is when You use an OBD scanner there will be a P1682 error code. The repair is not too difficult but You will have to remove the ignition and replace the switch. The contacts inside the ignition switch will become worn and this will cause the loss of voltage to the part momentarily and will stall the vehicle. One thing You can do to try and avoid the problem is only having one key on Your key ring to avoid heavy keys that will ultimately tug on the switch and cause it to wear a lot faster.
