The 2006 Chevy Impala rack and pinion problems are loose steering and clunking sounds. The power steering fluid needs to be changed every 75,000 miles. Along with changing fluids, You will come across noises from steering parts. A faulty bearing will make a nasty sound. A loose bearing will become painful to the ear. Having great steering is key for changing lanes and moving about on the road. You will someday come across some issues though. The steering wheel can become stuck. It may turn to one side. Steering fluid can leak at one point. The steering pump may become loose and that will spell disaster for Your vehicle. The strut bearings might become bad. The rack mount can become faulty.

Power steering fluid leaks, whining or clunking noise when turning the steering wheel, and trouble steering at low speeds are all an issue with this vehicle.

It'll definitely sway at high and low speed. You'll also hear clunking whenturning. Its do to a bad bearing at the lower steering shaft. That will wear out the steerings intermediate shaft. You'll Will go through wishbone and front engine mounts.
