The ground locations in the 2008 Chevy Impala are at the strut tower as well as the main engine block. The ground strap or ground wire is the cable that connects the engine block to the chassis, or sometimes directly to the negative battery terminal. This strap completes the circuit for electrical accessories grounded to the engine block instead of directly to the chassis. The reason that you attach the ground cable to a chassis ground and not to the negative terminal of the dead/weak battery is because automotive lead-acid batteries give off hydrogen gas when they charge and there is a potential for sparking when you remove the ground cable after jump starting the car.

The harness that goes to the headlights driving lights an ABS sensors have two grounding points right behind each headlight. The third grounding point is from the negative terminal straight to the frame closest to the battery. Your fourth Grounding pointe is on the left side of the engine compartment below the starter on the transmission to engine bolt this ground controls your TCM. Fifth grounding point is to the left of the fourth grounding point on the front of the automatic transaxle this ground controls your ignition and your AC compressor. And your sixth grounding point LS four vehicles only flow exhaust port cylinder five. This ground controls your ABS.
