The 2012 Chevrolet Traverse's actuator is located on the passenger side in the dash. It's electronically controlled based on temperature; electrical signals rotate the motor until the door points in the proper position. If You're getting air that's too hot or cold, this could be part of the problem. Fixing is pretty simple: You pop the panel under the glove box, unbolt the part, and disconnect the power to it. Not hard at all. For a replacement part, You can go with the Dorman A/C Heater Blend Door Actuator, #604-140. This runs around $76 at Autozone and is compatible with Your Traverse.
