If the 2013 Chevy Equinox is having issues with the catalytic converter then it will cause a number of issues. The most obvious one that You will notice is black smoke coming from under the engine hood. This is not a fire, but You should still turn the car off immediately. When You go to accelerate You will notice that the engine is sluggish and slow to respond and that Your maximum speed is much lower than it normally would be. Finally, You will begin to smell sulfur or rotten eggs from under the vehicle. The average cost of a catalytic converter repair is between $950 and $2500 including parts and labor. This is an expensive repair, but You really have no choice but to do it.

One of the most common issues with this is that it can rust leaving holes and damage in the piping, this will need to be replaced.
