The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado has had several problems reported about its transmission. Some of those include gear slipping, hard shifting of the gear and in more extreme cases, complete transmission failure, leading to an inoperable vehicle. Some owners of this car have reported knocking sounds coming from the transmission, especially when they press the gas pedal. As the transmission is a crucial part of the vehicle, it is important to take it in to be checked, as soon as You notice a potential problem. Not doing so could leave You exposed to safety issues, if the gear jams up or gets stuck while driving it.

I just had my transmission replaced at 160,000 miles (2015 chevy silverado 1500) It cost me 5,700 dollars. Chevy is no longer the heart beat of America in my opinion.

These transmission comments are very familiar 1 - it needs to learn 2- slipping and jerking in lower gears Now its "there's metal in your transmission oil pan and its goin to cost $6K" 117K miles and It has always been serviced at the dealership - something stinks.

2015 LTZ Silverado started hard jerking going from park to drive. Had checked out no code issues so was told nothing wrong it’s normal for this truck. Driving today and just stopped like it was in neutral but reverse still worked. Seeing all these issues and lawsuits going on with same type issues and GM won’t do anything to fix the problem. How is there not a recall? This will be my last Chevy; I will be a Ram guy here on out. Shameful GM!!!!🤦‍♂️

An occasional, hard 1-2 change is a common transmission problem with chevrolet tahoe, frequently accompanied by engine bogging. This can may be triggered by the torque converter clutch that is applied during the shift.

2015 LTZ Silverado 105,000 miles transmission junk. Always dealer serviced and pretty much babied for a truck. GM said nothing they can do even knowing there are problems with the transmissions . I’ve driven GM Trucks for 30 years this will be my last.

My son got stranded in Manhattan, Kansas on his way to Alabama. He left it a dealer and had to catch a flight to make it to his destination. The dealership he took it to now needs over $6 K to replace the transmission. Any attorneys out there that can file a lawsuit on GM for their negligence? This is no coincidence.

2016 Silverado has 130,000 on it and transmission went. GM says that they will only offer any assistance on it if it is installed by a GM dealer. That would mean that I would have to wait a month to have it done because the dealer is backed up. Bought the new transmission from a dealer as well. Not happy.

$7k 16100 miles new aamco transmission. I was traveling the US and got stuck in Beaumont. Starting to get a clunk when applying gas at low speeds. Unfortunately, no Aamco near me. I would love to keep the truck, however, one more expensive trip to service will be my last. Been a GM fan my whole life. There are 7,000 reasons why I should change.

Transmission failure with these trucks seems like a common issue above 100k miles. My Truck has also had its transmission replaced and engine rebuilt in December 2022 at only 112k miles. They are no longer "like a rock" more fragile, like glass.

It us going to cost over 5900.00 to replace it. The truck was used for personal use . I did not haul with it . I have a 5x8 utility trailer that I pull a 4 wheeler on or an occasional garbage run . I got stuck in anIn-N-Out drive through line with my 2015 Silverado 4×4 WT. It only has 98K mi. I heard some whines from the engine on my way so I put it in park in the drive thru line and slowly revved the engine to about 1800-2000RPMsS to see if I could hear the whine again. I went to put it back in drive and it slowly crept up to tye pay window. Then after that wouldn't budge. I shifted it to N to see if we could push it to the next window and that worked. After that a bunch of workers helped to push it to the parking lot and it just locked up. Let it sit for about 20 min and was able to drive it about 300yds before it just would move anymore. I just got quoted $9400 for a rebuilt transmission to get put in. Highway robbery at its finest. My family and I have been driving chef's for the last 50 yrs. Unfortunately this will be my last Chevy. "Heartbreak of America"

I purchased a 2015 GMC 2500 HD used back in 2020 with only $19,000 mi. Here we are in 2024 in March and I only have not even 52,000 miles on the truck. I am now having to replace the transmission on the truck. The dealership wants to charge me $6,700. The transmission shop down the street them only wants to charge $5,800. The transmission shop advised that this is a known issue in the 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 regardless of the size of the engine. He has replaced many of them over the years. GMC knows about this issue and in 2016 they realized what a crappy job they did with the 2015 transmission they redid them for the 2016. They also have updated the 2015 transmission so when you replace it you get the newer version and not the crappy version. So if they know this issue I think it is very poor customer service that they do not replace these transmissions for us on their own and at their expense. They knew that that design was completely idiotically built. Who in their right mind welds and bolts a torque converter to the transmission. I will be sending a letter to GMC as well as the Haley dealership in Richmond Virginia. I opened a case with GM but they will only work with me if I work with a GM dealer. I have no desire after being treated the way I was at Haley to work with a GM dealer. I will make sure that all the websites and everything that I have read about the 2015 transmission is sent to GMC directly, all three locations of the Haley dealerships in Richmond Virginia and anyone else who is listening. I feel that everyone who owns a 2015 GMC 2500 HD that has had to replace their transmission with under 100,000 miles should band together and Sue GMC and make them reimburse us for a cost. This will be the last GMC product that I ever buy. The sad thing is is I really love my truck.

My 2015 LTZ started having hard shifts at around 30k and I was also told that it was normal. It’s been slipping off and on throughout the years and now has 140k on it and waiting any day for it to lock up and then have to replace. Been a Chevy guy all my life but definitely will not buy another, they should’ve recalled these models years ago!

I'm embarrassed that I didn't do enough homework on 2015 lt ,120000 MLS Have to have my transmission rebuilt Disappointment doesn't begin describe how I feel. After reading all these comments. Chevrolet shouldn't answer for this In a recall type of fashion. The Chevrolet lovers in the country shouldn't have to pay the burden of this Lack of workmanship on Chevrolet's Part because it came up short from that windo I am disgusted with the weakness of which this vehicle has shown me. This is not why I became a Chevy guy but this may be why I am no longer gonna be a Chevy guy. Chevrolet is a bad a** product at least that's. What I thought Until I ended up where I'm at furious. My tranny was replaced back in about 2020 and was just barely covered under warranty at 99.8k miles. Got that one put in (rebuilt trans from a different truck) and now 3 years later, +30k miles, it’s slipping in like 2/3 gear. It’s not extremely consistent (yet) but typically it happens when you are going at least 35mph down to about 10mph. I have never dogged this transmission, the last one I did and it lasted 100k miles. This one has been a pavement princess. Zero after market parts bedsides maybe a 100lb increase in tire weight but d**n these things aren’t made like they used to be. The last reliable gen from Chevy stopped in 2012. Good truck, it really is, just terrible problems with tranny. Buy the extended warranty

2015 Silverado 1500 4x4 5.3L 6 Speed Auto -76k on vehicle, have noticed strange shifting gears 1-2. Dealer serviced, have had auto transmission fluid changed 2 times. I fear a large bill coming in the future. I hope General Motors reads these complaints/problems with their junky transmissions. This should be without question a replacement transmission offer. I will likely not purchasing any new Chevrolet trucks moving forward. This partIcular truck is my 4th Chevrolet Silverado. Heard a sound coming from the transmission of my 2015 Silverado 1500 with 147,000 miles on it - started 3 weeks ago. Coming into boat towing season and didn't want to drop any money into a transmission with that many miles or tow with a faulty/noisy transmission. Made a deal with a dealer for a new GMC Sierra and was heading there to drop off the title to the old truck and the tranny stopped engaging. Was able to get there by shutting down, restarting and engaging Traction Control. Told them what was up, they agreed to continue with the deal we made on Saturday. Got the last few drops out of that truck...someone else's problem now.
