The 2016 Honda CR-V most commonly has starter issues due to a dead battery. The required battery group size iS35. The price of a new battery ranges from $150 to $250. If You are still having problems despite a good and/or replaced battery Your issue may be due to the alternator. This is usually accompanied by other electrical failures as well. Least common, but still a possibility, is an issue with the starter itself. You may hear a clicking noise when starting to start the car. A replacement starter will cost an estimated $450 to $820 for parts and $125 to $155 for labor. Other things You can check are Your fuel levels, fuel type, the fuel filter (i.e., check for clogs) or the fuel pump.

Starter should last well over 100K miles, mine went out around 53K. Over $1100 @ dealership. Coincidentally, while getting repairs, another CRV owner arrived with same problem - turn key, hear single click, then starts, with problem increasing until eventually you're very concerned the car will not start. Believe this should've been a recall issue but if Honda's going to generate revenue for all the repairs, why recall and spend their money to fix an obvious defect.

Although there are a variety of reasons why your honda cr-v won't start, the most popular 3 is a dead battery, an alternator problem, or failed starter.

Why alternator? This may cause the battery to fail but it should not keep it from starting. My problem is intermittent and occurs I more to my wife than me. I think break switch or neutral lockout.
