The main problem with the auto start stop system is usually caused by a battery or alternator issue. When the alternator is failing it will not properly charge Your battery and that can lead to it being dead. When You have a dead battery the vehicle will not be able to start automatically after it has turned off and that can leave it stalled. Another problem that can come up with the system is a computer problem. The system does just rely on a computer to know when You are stopped and when You are getting ready to start driving again and if any portion of that has a software glitch it can prevent it from starting up normally.

People have experienced a restart problem when the auto stop is engaged at a red light on their chevy cruze. If this happens to you, get your vehicle serviced at a dealer.
I just bought a 2016 Chevy CruzeLT limited edition. Preowned. My issue is that it turns off, but I have to manually put it on park thereafter, and manually start it again from that position. My mechanic don’t have a clue as to why, YouTube reviews are pretty much what you are telling me. Anything else in regards to a possible diagnosis to my issue would-be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Since it is computer controlled there are a factors that affect how and when it comes on or doesn't. For example -in warmer ,hotter climates it will come on more frequently-unless A/c is on. Not a problem if it doesn't come on-or if it is infrequent.-Almost no difference-not even noticeable, and no effect on engine performance. Just let it be.

Engine auto stop not working in my 2017 Chevy Cruze. Got new battery a couple months ago so it can't be that. Just realized that it's gotten really cold in the last week (25 degrees during the day) so that might be the problem. Reading other stuff on internet has taught me a lot about auto stop.

I was using my girlfriends Chevy cruise and it auto shut off at the gas station and would not come back on after a while of constantly turning it over and giving it gas it came back on but the auto start feature was gone.

@ Serano it is your brake booster. Its a common problem on the cruzes with auto stopfeatures
