You're driving Your Chevy Cruze down the road, when You suddenly notice it is overheating. There are a few things that could cause this to occur. You may be experiencing a leak of coolant from a cracked head gasket, radiator, water pump, or a hose. You should check all of these items, starting with hoses, for damage or cracks. The radiator fan may be faulty, which can be replaced for $88 to $138. You also may have a faulty thermostat. If You need to replace Your thermostat, it will cost You between $30 and $238 for parts alone. If You choose to have it replaced professionally, You are looking at another $58 to $238 for labor.

Change the reservoir! Mine was overheating and I spent hundreds of dollars with a shop trying to find the problem with no luck! So I started looking into everything on my own, parts store suggested a hose to replace and when I got to the end of the hose a saw a super small drip from that hose under reservoir, replaced that hose and it still didn’t fix it.so I decided to replace the entire resivoir, and it fixed the issue!!

Guys, the issue is a programming issue at the manufacturer! Water start boiling at 100 Celsuis, the chevy cruze fan kick on at 99 celsuis, at this temperature the engine coolant is almost boiling, the engin block is 150%the coolant temp, some times the fan is unable to lower that temp, some time this cause the thermostat to fail, hoses to blow up, water pump to fail...etc. Especially when you are living in a hot area. Checi it out your self with the OBD to visualize live data you will understand. Other brands fans are operational at 85-90 celauis. Solution: bypasse the ECM with a 2 wire temp switch connected to the return hose hoocked to a a relay contact then to the fan low soeed relay.

Okay, I read all of the answers, not quite a solution for me. My car has had a recent head job, new waterpump, thermostat housing. The live data shows it runs between 240 and 215, occasionally going over 255 and then overheat warning, but warning goes away as the temperature drops down again. Fan goes on and off and is functioning properly. The one thing I noticed s the hose after the thermostat is not very warm, big difference in temperature between the two houses and the air coning from the fan seems cold also. There are no leaks and the system has been bled and is full of coolant., I am stumped, any ideas?

If your chevy cruze is overheating, it could be due to a sticking thermostat, clogged radiator, collapsed hose or failed water pump. Get it checked out to avoid engine failure.
