The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 can have a number of different reasons to overheat such as a coolant leak, faulty radiator fan, or a broken thermostat. If it is a coolant leak You will know because the coolant levels will be low and continue to decrease when You refill the reservoir. The next thing to check is the fan which will be located on the radiator at the front of the truck. The last thing to check is the thermostat. When the truck starts to overheat and heat helps drop the temp then it is most likely Your thermostat. Replacing it is very easy and only costs about $20 to purhcase.

If your chevy silverado is overheating, it is likely a failed thermostat, a problem with the radiator fan, or a coolant leak in the radiator, hose, or water pump.
