There is no way to reset the check engine light on the 2008 Honda Accord. It comes on when there is something wrong with the car, but it can be caused by just about anything. Due to this, it is not worth Your time hunting down a random issue unless it is something very obvious that has gone wrong. The best thing to do is take the car to a mechanic and let them scan it with an OBD tool. This will allow them to read the trouble code and tell You where the problem is. Once You know that You can go about getting it fixed, which will turn off the light. One thing to check however is the gas cap and fuel door. If the cap is missing or the door is open then the light will come on. This is a silly thing to go to the mechanic over, so make sure You check it first.

My VSA and Engine lights kept coming on. At first it was fixed by putting the car into neutral, turning it off and back on, then the error codes would clear. This worked for about 6 months. Then my car's VSA and Engine lights would come on AND the car would go into "limp mode" and would not accelerate above 10 MPH. Today, I finally bit the bullet and took my car to a trusted mechanic. I learned that there is a glitch in the Honda computer whereby it is falsely sensing misfiring cylinders in the engine. (The engine computer is fine, however, and the engine is NOT misfiring.) And this is the source of the problem when the car puts itself into limp mode. The mechanic said this is happening A LOT recently with the earlier Hondas. The only fix is to "flash" the car's master computer, to set it back to factory settings. This fixes the master computer's glitch/bug. They don't know why the master computer sensor settings are changing, however - just that it is now a frequent issue. (FYI, at home we addressed every OTHER possible issue - new crank position sensor, battery, coils, spark plugs, ground strap, and starter - and it took a lot of time, effort and money.) So my 2008 Honda Accord VSA and Engine indicator lights and Limp Mode were all fixed by "flashing" the master computer back to factory settings. The cost was $150 and the fix took an hour. I would START with paying to have the computer flashed!

The check engine and vsa lights on a 2008 honda accord can come on for many reasons and you will need an obd ii scan tool to find the source of the fault.
