The generation of Ford Transit vehicles manufactured between 2009-2012 is considered to be the auto manufacturer's most problematic. These years suffer from transmission problems, a faulty brake hydraulic control unit and a recall for their doors. Ford issued a recall on more than 800,000 vehicles that included the Transit, for doors prone to popping open while the van was being driven. Owners complain of sluggish acceleration that Makes merging into highway traffic dangerous. Reduced engine performance has preceded complete transmission failure before 68,000 miles, but after warranty coverage. Other reports detail sudden revving of the Transit's engine and an inability to shift between third and second gears. In all instances the failures impaired acceleration and shifting and created hazardous driving conditions.

The ford transit connect seems to be pretty reliable, the 2012 model might be the one with the most complaints, there's a good amount of talk about the transmission failing.

I just purchased a 2012 with 167000 miles & the trans had just been replaced . The drivers door hinge pin is bad . Trouble getting rear cargo lights to work .

I own a 2012 Ford Transit Connect for the most part pretty reliable only issues I've had was coolant leaks twice.
