If You happen to see the battery saver active light on in the dash in Your Chevy Impala it means that the battery voltage has dropped below what is expected by the computer. This can be a sign of a failing battery or a bad alternator. Your battery should have a resting voltage around 12.2 to 12.5 volts when it is off and as it ages that goes down. That can be a sign that Your battery is nearing the end of its life. Your alternator charges Your car and runs it all at 14.4 volts and if You have lower voltage than that the battery saver active light may also turn on. You can always test Your battery or alternator to determine which component is having the problem.

It means it is turning down the functions of some of the car in order to save energy for the battery.

Make sure the wire on the alternator screw is on tight which was my mistake if battery and alternator has been changed then it’s the idler pulley where the serpentine belt is not rotating properly. If that fails you may have an electric problem
