When You get a check engine light on the dash of Ford Explorer the first thing that You should do is try to get off the road and stop so that it does not cause any more damage to Your engine. When You are safely stopped You can use an OBD II scan tool to read the code that is stored in Your ECU. If You have a code B1676 that means that there was a fault detected with the anti lock braking system. Usually this will come on when the system detects that there is less than 9 volts going to the brakes. This can commonly be caused by a battery or alternator issue, or simply a loose wire.

The b1676 code on a ford explorer refers to an issue with the abs system, or anti-lock brake system. This is likely caused by a low voltage with the battery which indicates a failing alternator or a worn out battery.
