Mercedes Benz engines are known to be picky when it comes to gasoline, and the CLA 250 is no exception. It requires the use of premium 91 unleaded gasoline, at MINImum. The high compression ratios used in Mercedes engineering require the higher octane to operate as normal, even though it will cost You a few dollars more every time You hit the pump. While going too high on fuel octane only tosses money down the drain, going too low can lead to costly repairs. The firSTSymptom You'll notice if You use 87 oR89 is engine knocking, sometimes escalating to severe. If this isn't enough to sway You to premium, Your repair bill will be; an engine rebuild on the CLA 250 doesn't come cheap.
