The EVAP canister in a 2001 Chevy S-10 can be found above the rear muffler at the back of the vehicle. This is a canister that helps filter the emissions from Your vacuum system before they are released to the environment. The EVAP system in Your car helps capture excessive fumes from the fuel system and then they are routed through the EVAP canister before they are expelled. When this canister starts to fail You will get a check engine light on at Your dash. There are sensors and a solenoid on it that allow it to open, as well as measure how clean the fumes coming out of it are. When the sensors detect any problems with that it will let Your ECU know.

The 2001 Chevy s10 evaporative emission (evap) canister purge solenoid valve is located in the evap canister, above the rear of the muffler.
