Failure of the 2002 Honda CR-V's PCV valve can cause oil leaks or a whistling and moaning noise while operating the engine. The PCV is an important part of the CR-V's emissions system and is located under the hood in the engine bay above the alternator and under the power steering pump. The small hose will be further identifiable by the clamp affixing it to the assembly. Cost to have this piece professionally replaced ranges between $65-$75 in materials and labor. Signs You may be experiencing problems with the valve include engine surging, black exhauSTSmoke, the build-up of sludge and condensation inside the motor and oil seals and gasket failure. These conditions are often accompanied by mIS Fires, hard starts and rough idle.

It is NOT located on the firewall. That makes no sense at all. The Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve is located on the engine block. If you are facing the front of the car, it is to the left of the intake manifold and to the right of the alternator, look down low. It will have a long rubber hose coming off of it, running across the front of the engine bay.
