The neutral safety switch on the 2003 Chevrolet Impala is located on the rear side of the transmission; it's a half-moon shaped part made of black plastic, attached to the transmission with two metric bolts. You can see it by sliding underneath the front of the car and looking up at the tranny. As You probably no, the point of this switch is to prevent Your vehicle from starting the engine unless You're in park or neutral, so that You don't inadvertently run down pedestrians. Disconnecting the switch is as easy as removing the bolts holding it in place, and then simply wiggling it out of the the transmission and disconnecting the electrical connector to it.
