There is no location for the cabin air filter on the 2003 Chevrolet Malibu because it doesn't use a cabin air filter. Instead of the air filter, it uses a plastic mesh that prevents leaves/debris from entering the HVAC system. Unlike the air filter, this plastic mesh doesn't need to be changed. The Malibu does end up using the cabin air filter later on, for example the 2013 uses it. In that year it is located behind the passenger glove boxAnd another spot that it is in in some vehicles is directly below the windshield and in the engine compartment. The plastic mesh that the 2003 uses doesn't need to be changed however most others should be changed every 30,000 miles or so.
