The 2003 Lincoln Aviator's starter is going to be located on the passenger side of the engine in front of the bell housing. To replace it, You'll need a 13 millimetre end wrench and a deep socket for the mounting bolts. The basic overview of swapping this out is, go ahead and remove the negative battery cable, then remove the access shielding to expose the starter terminals on the solenoid. After You have those exposed, remove the battery cable and trigger wire, keeping track of where they were. Now, go ahead and remove the positive battery cable. You should now remove the 3 bolts holding the starter in place: be warned, it's free from the bell housing at this point, so make sure You've got a grip on it. After You've got it in hand, You can search on the part number for a replacement part, or confirm the one You've already purchased is correct, and install it doing the reverse of the procedure to remove it.

The starter on the 2003 lincoln aviator is located inside the steering column and is connected to the ignition where you put the keys in.
