The 2007 Chevy Impala transmission can hold 7.4 quarts of fluid in it. Chevrolet recommends that You use Dexron ViAutomatic transmission fluid whenever You need to change it. You should check Your transmission fluid every time that You change the oil in Your car. You will want to inspect it to make sure that it is full and free from any signs of debris. Usually debris in transmission fluid will make it sparkly or reflective because it will be metal shavings. Metal shavings in Your transmission fluid can be a sign of bigger problems with the gears. If You do notice them I recommend letting a shop inspect Your gearbox to make sure that there is not any permanent damage.
