The 2008 Ford Focus holdS4.5 quarts of SAE 5W-20 oil in the engine. Ford recommends that whenever You need to change the oil in Your car You should use synthetic oil. There are two types of oil that are common on the market these days, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic is a newer type of oil that is engineered in a lab to give You greater wear protection and longer life than conventional. This means synthetic only needs to be changed every 7,500 miles compared to the 3,500 to 5,000 mile change interval of conventional. You should check Your oil at least once a month. This is a good time to make sure that the oil is full and free from any debris that could harm Your engine.
