The 2008 Toyota Highlander lug nut torque specs are 80 ft-pounds of torque. I recommend that You use a torque wrench while installing Your wheels so that You get the torque correct. If Your wheels are too loose then You risk the lug nuts falling off and the wheels falling off while driving. If You over torque Your wheels it could lead to the threads on Your wheel studs being stripped out. You could also damage Your wheels if You put the lug nuts on too tight. The most common reason that lug nuts get torqued down too high is by using an impact gun to install them. An impact gun is good to remove the wheels, but should never be used when You are reinstalling them.
