The 2012 Honda Civic uses a CR1616 battery in the key fob. This is a very common battery size and You should be able to find it at most pharmacies, grocery stores, and big box stores. When You need to replace the battery in Your key fob simply pry the fob open at the center of it and then You can put the new battery into it. Usually when Your battery starts to die You will get a warning on Your vehicle's dash letting You know the car has detected a low battery. If Your battery dies then You will not be able to start the car since the fob will not be able to communicate with the receiver in the vehicle.
