Your 2017 Chevy Sonic uses A50/50 mixture of clean, drinkable water and DEX-COOL coolant. Dex-Cool lasts longer than traditional antifreeze. The engine coolant capacity iS6.9 Quarts. Chevrolet recommends changing Your coolant every 5 years or 150,000 miles. Coolant over time can become more acidic and lose its rust-inhibiting properties, causing corrosion. Corrosion can damage the radiator, water pump, thermostat, radiator cap, hoses. The cooling system and heater system could be damaged or Your car may start to overheat. You cannot just keep adding coolant without ever flushing and changing it.

Regarding Tina S. Comment: ideally use distilled water rather than any other source of water, as the calcium, magnesium or other ions in tap water can form a hard sludge in the pipes.
