Ford recommends that You change out the oil in Your 2017 Transit every 3,000 to 5,000 miles if You're using conventional oil, and every 10,000 miles if You're using a synthetic blend. Ford fills it with a conventional oil from the factory, but You're free to go with the synthetic if You want: it's pricier, but as You can see, You get a lot more time between oil changes with it. You'll typically want to use a SAE 5w30 viscosity when You change it out, and be aware it's going to take 5.7 quarts to properly fill. You might want to change oil weights depending on whether You live in a temperate climate or not.

The oil change interval for the 2017 ford transit is 10,000 miles. If your vehicle sits for long periods of time, you should do it before you reach 10,000 miles.
