The Chevy Cruze has an open recall for the catalytic converter. This was issued by Chevrolet and the NHTSA because they found that there was a significant failure rate with the component. What happens in Your catalytic converter is the ceRamic components inside the cat may crack due to the high temperatures of the exhaust gasses from the engine. This can lead to them breaking off entirely and being expelled out the exhaust or sitting in the exhaust rattling. If Your vehicle is in the affected VIN range then a Chevrolet dealership will change out Your cat for a brand new one free of charge. All You have to do is contact them and schedule an appointment because it is about a two hour project.

Some 2013 and 2014 chevy cruze vehicles with the 1.8-Liter engine were recalled due to catalytic converter issues. Cracking of the converter's ceramic components could occur, resulting in higher exhaust temperatures.
