A dead or dying battery is a common cause for the Honda CR-V to have brake system problem error messages. A low voltage will cause them to malfunction and the brake pedal will kickback when the electric brakes do a reset. The CR-V features an electric parking brake with an automatic brake hold. Instead of the traditional hand lever or foot pedal for the parking brake, CR-V owners can simply lift the electric parking brake switch to set the vehicles parking brake, and push the switch down to release the parking brake. When activated, the automatic brake hold maintains braking pressure when the driver applies the brakes, such as in stop-and-go traffic, and releases the brakes when the driver applies the accelerator.

The electric brake problem on a honda cr-v is usually related to getting the parking brake to disengage after being parked.
