Removing the headliner in a Ford Explorer is a pretty involved task. Usually You will need pry tools and screw drivers to completely remove it. The first thing that You will need to do is remove the panels on the A, B, and C pillars of the vehicle. This will allow You to free up the headliner. Next You will need to remove all the accessories from the roof including the lights. Once all of those are out You should be able to remove the trim from the rear of the vehicle at the hatch. With that down You should be able to drop the headliner and board and slide it out of the vehicle at the back.
