The first thing You should do before attempting to remove the headrest in Your Ford Explorer is... Park the car, and turn it off. Please don't neglect this step; while it's possible to have the head rest thrown clear by hundreds of feet in an accident, there are quite a few negatives about that method. All parked now OK. First, go to the side of the headrest, and with a small flat blade screw driver, push in the very small slot in the button. Then, grasping both sides of the headrest, lift up straight, gently, and it should come clear of the two base buttons on the top of the seat.
