After You change the battery in Your Ford Focus You will need to do a few things to allow the ECU to reset properly and help it know that there is a new battery. This can also help improve Your battery life since Your alternator may not over-charge it, which can wear down a new battery. To reset the car You will need to put the vehicle in the on position with the engine off. Turn on the dipped beam. Then press five times on the rear fog light button, next press three times on the hazard button. After that the battery icon on the dash should flash three times. The light flashing indicates that the new battery has been registered with the car and You are ready to drive off.

My ford focus 2015 drains the battery quickly when the car is switched off and I had the battery changed on January but it seem like the problem is back again. What could be the issue that keeps draining my battery?

Battery management system reset is necessary when you are replacing the battery or body control module (bcm) is replaced.

For our Ford Focus you actually flick the high beams 5x then the brake pedal 3x - wait for the battry light to flash and you are good.

This is an Urban Myth. Don’t waste your time. Ask yourself, ‘why is reset your battery not in any Ford Focus manual.
