If Your Ford Focus has a fault code on the dash You should try to get off the road as soon as possible and get to a safe area. Fault codes can indicate serious problems with Your car and You may want to avoid driving further and potentially damaging components. When You are stopped You should use an OBD II scan tool to read the code that is stored that turned on the light. If You have a code U1900 that means that there is a communication failure. This is usually caused by a loose wire, or it could have just been a one time hiccup with the computer. I recommend resetting it and going back to driving. If it returns You will want to get it checked by a dealer.
