The BCM or Body Control Module in Your Ford Ranger is the part of the vehicle that controls all the non engine related functions and features. All the lights, displays and even the SRS/Airbag systems are controlled by it. When a component is swapped out or a new accessory is installed, the BCM will usually detect it and function just fine but sometimes it doesnt. When this happens You will need to reset the BCM. Depending on the year Your Ranger is You may be able to reset it by disconnecting the negative battery terminal and leaving the truck to sit for 10-15 minutes. If You have a newer model You will most likely need to take the truck into a Ford service center because it will need to be reset using their proprietary software.
