The oil capacity of a Toyota Tundra5 7l v8 iS7.9 quarts. Your oil needs to be replaced eventually. Every 5,000 to 10,000 miles is a good rule of thumb. If You don't replace it, there will be issues with the engine. Having high quality oil is key for the engine to run smoothly. You will run into problems with the oil at some point. Bad oil can cause the engine to fail. A normal problem is a nasty burning smell. This needs to be looked into as soon as possible or the car might explode. You could experience terrible gas mileage. Knocking noise may come about from the engine.

2012 with towing package is 9 quarts with filter. Some will argue this, but I'll guarantee it does.

You are correct, just did my first oil change on my 2011 Rock Warrior with towing package. I was shocked to keep putting oil in until I finally topped it off at 9 qts.

The owners manual says when checking the dip stick it should be in the middle, not all the way to the other dot, that’s why people keep over filling their engine, and say it takes 9 quarts. It doesn’t, it takes 7.9! Don’t add more then that!
