The oil capacity for the 2009 Toyota Matrix2.4L 4Cylinder engines iS4 quarts. The capacity for the 1.8L 4Cylinder engine iS4.4 quarts. The suggested oil viscosity is SAE 0W-20 although SAE 5W-20 can also be used. The stated capacity includes the oil filter which is a spin-on canister type. The thread size iS3/4-16 inch. The recommended service interval according to the owner's manual is every 5,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first. It is suggested that You use Toyota Genuine Motor Oil or an appropriate equivalent. If You are changing the oil Yourself You can access the filter housing on the underside of the vehicle. The oil drain plug torque is 29 ft-lbs.
