The code P0008 is a standard OBD-II code that appears when there are issues with either the engine control module (ECM), or adjAccent parts of the engine, such as the crankshaft and the camshaft. These parts are responsible for powering and maintaining the car in motion and so, are key components. The ECM is responsible for transmitting information to and from the other parts, making sure they work in sync. As a result, a connected part may have also stopped working due to the same error code. This may trigger the Check Engine light to come on in some cases as well. In some cases, users have also reported impacts on performance due to the same error code.

This code on a chevy traverse means that the engine control module found a variation in the mechanical timing between the crankshaft and bank 1 camshaft.
