The 2009 Toyota Matrix S came equipped with a 1.8L 4Cylinder engine but You also had the option of upgrading to a 2.4L 4Cylinder engine. The 1.8L model will have a capacity of 4.45 US quarts and require 5W-20 synthetic motor oil. The 2.4L will have a slightly smaller capacity coming in at 4 US quarts but will require the same 5W-20 synthetic oil. This capacity being low on these engines means that it will be very cheap on fluid costs to replace the oil. You will be looking at spending between $15 and $30 depending on what brand You buy and where You shop. If You decide to take this in to a shop for a change it will only cost between $90 and $120.
