The 2017 Toyota Prius Prime has a recommended oil type of 0W-20 in all temperatures. If 0W-20 is not available then it is okay to use 5W-20 once but at the next oil change 0W-20 must be used. The capacity for the car iS4.4 quarts with a filter. The oil in the Prius should be changed every 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first. It is important to use oil in cars because it helps to keep the engine clean. The cost of an oil change if taken to a mechanic is anywhere from $30 to $40 in labor costs. It is really easy to do a change and can be finished in only about 5 to 15 minutes.

It is highly recommended to use synthetic 0w-20 motor oil for this vehicle but 5w-20 is also fine to use without issue.
