With a dry filter, the 4.0-liter V6 engine in the Toyota FJ Cruiser takeS5.2 liters (5.5 quarts) of SAE 5W-30 motor oil. This synthetic fluid reduces friction, prevents corrosion, and helps keep the engine cool in a variety of climates. Toyota recommends replacing this fluid every 5,000 miles or 6 months, whichever You arrive to first. However, if You often drive off-road, tow frequently, or make a daily commute that consists of low speeds, You will need a more frequent maintenance schedule. It's a good idea to get in the habit of checking this fluid routinely to make sure it hasn't gotten old, thick, or low. Always do this after the engine has been off at least five minutes to prevent injury. The average cost to replace the oil in the Cruiser is $150 to $180, including labor.

I servicemy toyota FJ myself. The oil recommended for my 2011 is Mobile 1 full synthetic. The weight is 0-20 which is marked plainly on the oil filler cap. I bought Wix brand oil filter and air filter with one 5 qt.bottle of mobile one and a single qt.bottle for a total of 6 qts.of oil at my local O'Reilly auto parts. In all cost about $89.00.

The toyota fj cruiser uses 5w-30 regular oil. You should have it changed every 5,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first. It is considered fairly easy to do the oil change yourself, assuming you have means to safely raise the vehicle off the ground.
