The Toyota Tacoma TSS off road package is part of the Toyota Safety Sense line. The Safety sense line adds some of the more popular modern safety features to Your truck such as auto braking, lane keep assist, and radar cruise control. Usually these were found only on higher end vehicles but Toyota has committed to bringing them to the entire lineup. The TSS off road package will add a few exterior trim options to the vehicle that can help it stand out and look more aggressive. These include 17" black rims, a black step bar, black exhaust tips, and black badges on the tailgate. These upgrades can make Your truck stand out from the crowd.

TSS "Toyota Safety Sense" is a standard safety package. TSS Off Road SE Black Package is a $3,999 (MSRP) add on package to Tacoma S trucks, that dress up the base model. It gives you 17" black rims, black step bar, black exhaust tip, black lettering on the tailgate, and TSS OFF Road sticker on the rear side panels. Confusing, they are both called "TSS."

In this context, TSS stands for Toyota Sports Series. It’s not the same thing as Toyota Safety Sense.

The tss off road package is a standard package on all new tacomas, it is a safety feature for frontal collision impacts.

TSS stands for two different things. There’s the Toyota Saftey Sense which is a package of safety systems like lane departure and front collision monitoring. However that’s not what i think the question is asking about. The TSS trim model is basically an appearance package on a standard Tacoma. I have a ‘23 TSS off-road. I’m not normally the type to pay for cosmetic upgrades but I was lucky to find one that had some other features and I got them to add another and still get it at MSRP (about $3k off sticker which made it barely more than a base 4x4). It came with the 17” bronze powder coated wheels from the TRD Pro and off-road tires, the good black side rails, upgraded sound system, and I had them add the catalytic converter guard skid plate because it’s pretty common here for them to get cut off Parked trucks, especially Toyotas because they have more platinum than other manufacturers (so I’m told). The TSS trim stands for Toyota Sport Series. I really wanted the TRD Pro but I don’t do a lot of serious off-roading and couldn’t rationalize tthe extra expense. I just need the 4x4 to not get stuck when I’m out at the farm.If you plan on heavy off-road driving then the TRD suspension and locking diff upgrades might be a better idea
